Learn to print your color negatives or scans your prints in this intensive, in-depth hands-on workshop at Photo Epicenter, a professional color lab facility. You will develop color sensitivity and will acquire color correction skills. You will learn all aspects of color theory in depth and be able to apply this knowledge to both film and digital photography. Small class size enables individualized attention to address your unique style and skill level.

ĦE evaluating negatives
ĦE color balancing techniques
ĦE contrast control
ĦE comparison of papersĦE scanning
ĦE options for printing from scans
ĦE color correction on the computer
ĦE much, much more

In this class, you will follow an image as it progresses from negative, to print, to scanner, to email and/or inkjet or photo emulsion print. We will compare inkjet prints to prints from original negatives and begin to work towards being able to achieve the negative's best characteristics in any form of print. By the course's end, you will be able to produce good color-corrected representations of your work.

Course consists of 8 meetings plus additional, optional darkroom access to be scheduled at your own convenience. Participants are also eligible for steeply discounted darkroom access upon completion of the class. Familiarity with enlarging equipment and/or B/W printing experience recommended. To first class bring at least one color negative and any samples of what you'd like to print. Color paper will be provided for the first session.

Laura Miller owned and operated Colorarts Photographics for 20 years. Her business was a custom lab for exhibiting photo artists and galleries, as well as a rental darkroom and teaching facility. She has over 25 years experience as a freelance and exhibiting photographer and production artist. She has been teaching photography and printing techniques for 15 years.
